To make cannabis-infused butter or coconut oil using a stovetop espresso maker, follow these steps:
Measure 1/2 cup of butter or coconut oil and place it in the bottom chamber of the espresso maker.
Add water to the chamber, filling it up to the "fill line."
Finely grind your cannabis. Be sure it’s been decarboxylated (activated through heat, such as by vaping).
Place the ground cannabis in the coffee funnel, packing it tightly.
Set the espresso maker on the stovetop at low-medium heat. Allow it to percolate slowly for 5–10 minutes. The lower heat will extend brewing time, allowing more THC to absorb into the oil.
Once the upper chamber is full, carefully pour the infused mixture into a tempered glass jar and place it in the fridge.
After 30 minutes to an hour, the butter or oil will solidify, separating from the water. Poke a small hole in the solidified oil layer, and drain the water.
Your infused butter or oil is now ready to use in baking recipes or as a spread. Start with a small dose to test the potency, and wait at least one hour before considering more.
